In Martin County, Kentucky, a coal slurry impound breaks into an underground mine. The slurry spilled out all of the mines openings. An estimated 306 million gallons of slurry is spilled into the Ohio River and the Big Sandy River. It cost around $50,000,000 to clean up the spill. Today, there are still reports of oil in and around the rivers.
